God Will Reward Your Work

Daily Devotional – Monday, October 31, 2022

But you, be strong, and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NKJV)

King Asa pleased the Lord because he took measures to stop idol worship in Judah. The monarch “also removed the high places and the incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and the kingdom was quiet under him.” (2 Chronicles 14:5).

A Daunting Task Requiring Courage

Asa also excelled in military strategy and exploits because he relied on Jehovah. He fortified his cities against enemy nations and had a well-trained army at his disposal. God gave this faithful ruler victory over a one-million-strong Ethiopian army.

The reform work, however, was far from over. The nation was saturated with the worship of foreign gods. Idols were scattered all over Judah and Benjamin. Many of the past rulers of the kingdom had failed to uproot idolatry. Some had even succumbed to it.

The LORD is with You

Consequently, God decided to encourage Asa through Prophet Azariah, son of Oded. The seer recounted how the rebelliousness of the people had attracted God’s wrath while repentance and reformation pleased God.

Prophet Azariah cautioned Asa, “The LORD is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:2). In essence, the existence and prosperity of the nation depended on fidelity to God.

Be Strong!

The prophet also encouraged the king, saying, “But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!” (2 Chronicles 15:7). The task ahead of the king was daunting, but God was right there with King Asa.

What a wonderful promise! When God sends us, He makes provision for the mission. We should not entertain weakness because God will eventually reward our work. It is not in vain that we serve God.

God Will Reward Your Work

Are you giving up on that dream? Do you feel like stopping to pray for that person because he has not changed so far? Is that church project draining your finances, and you wonder when it will be completed?

If you are engaged in God’s work or any divine-approved task but cannot see the results at this time, do not lose hope. Be encouraged by God’s exhortation, “Be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!”

Prayer

Almighty God, thank You because You will reward my work.
