Grace that Circles Back

So, in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.

Imagine walking into a supermarket feeling tired, and the cashier greets you warmly with a genuine smile. Without thinking, your mood lifts and you smile back. Later that day, you meet someone who looks discouraged, and you find yourself offering the same kindness you received. Simple interactions often mirror what we first experience.

Do to Others What You Would Have Them Do to You

Jesus understood this human tendency and taught His disciples a guiding principle that shapes our relationships. He reminded them that whatever we want others to do for us, we should do for them. In other words, we often set the tone for how people respond to us. Life reflects our attitudes and actions more than we realize. Tit for tat feels normal, yet Jesus invites us to a higher standard that is rooted in love and grace.

Scripture reinforces this principle in other passages. Luke teaches that what we give returns to us in overflowing measure. Proverbs reminds us that a generous soul becomes rich and that anyone who desires friendship must first show themselves friendly. These truths highlight that the seeds we sow eventually become the harvest we reap.

Grace that Circles Back

Today is an opportunity to practice the Golden Rule intentionally. Choose to treat others with patience, kindness, and respect. Offer a smile, speak gently, give generously, and respond with grace even when it feels undeserved. As you sow good seeds, you invite goodness back into your life. Remember that life often echoes what you send out.

Almighty Father, help me to consistently practice the Golden Rule in every interaction.
