God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent. Hath he said and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Numbers 23:19 (KJV)
Lying is perhaps the easiest sin to commit, especially when our lives or reputations are at risk. Studies have even been carried out to establish who lies more between men and women. Findings of different studies are not uniform.
For example, in 2015, a UK study found out that women were twice more likely to lie than men. Later in 2017, another research concluded that men were better liars. Interestingly, the second study declared lying an epidemic among Britons.
If these studies were to be replicated in the other countries, do you think the findings would be different? Our world is so full of deceit that most people’s claims are only believed upon fulfilment.
It is, therefore, a welcome relief to know that there is a Being that does not lie. According to Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that he should lie … hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Scholars estimate that the Bible contains between 3,000 and 8,000 promises. These are invitations to you to try God and prove that He is not a liar. How many of these promises do you know? How many have you ever claimed? Your life would improve immensely if you learned to claim God’s promises.
Start reading Bible promises and claiming them today. Begin with this beautiful one, “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (John 14:14, ESV). Hold God accountable to His promises.
