How God Equips Us to Fight Fear

Daily Devotional – Monday, March 24, 2025
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

One of Satan’s most effective tools against Christians is fear. It infiltrates our hearts, distorts our thoughts, and paralyzes our religious beliefs. Paul reminds us that God is not the source of dread. Rather, God has bestowed upon us three wonderful gifts: strength, love, and mental clarity.

A Spirit of Power

Every believer has access to God’s power. It empowers us to openly proclaim the gospel, withstand temptation, and remain strong in the face of adversity. Remember that you have God’s strength at your disposal whenever fear threatens to overwhelm you.

The love that God offers us is bold, selfless, and strong—it is neither timid nor weak. His love gives us comfort in knowing that He is always watching over us. Allow God’s love to serve as a reminder of His faithfulness when fear speaks lies.

How God Equips Us to Fight Fear

God equips us with a sound mind. This includes self-control, discipline, and intelligence. Fear, in contrast, feeds on uncertainty and terror. A sound mind keeps us engrossed in God’s assurances and allows us to make decisions based on trust rather than fear.

How can you allow God’s love to take the place of your fears? If you experience fear in aspects of your life such as your calling, your future, your finances, or your health, claim the promise in today’s key text. Do not entertain fear. Instead, accept God’s gift of power, love, and a sound mind.

Prayer
Almighty God, I am grateful for my strong spirit, love, and good mind. Encourage me to put my faith in Your strength and to shun fear.
