Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
When the visitor stood to greet the church, he said he had decided to join the church because he had witnessed genuine conversion and pure faith in one of our church members after several years of interaction in a professional context.
We all marveled. No money had been spent in an evangelistic campaign. There were no charismatic and gifted speakers involved. The godly influence of a believer had won a soul for Jesus.
Let Your Light So Shine Before Men
ur humble evangelistic exemplified Christ’s command, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). Our work is to shine for Jesus hence attracting others to Him.
Apostle Peter had a similar message to Christian women married to non-believers. “Wives … be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives.” (1 Peter 3:1).
Magnets for Christ
In essence, the godly character of a converted spouse can gradually win the unbelieving partner to Christ. A loving and lovable Christian is the most effective evangelism tool. When we allow God to transform our characters, we become magnets for Jesus.
The only Jesus some people know is you. You are their reference point on matters of godliness. Let your light so shines that they get attracted to Jesus. Like the moon that reflects the Sun’s light, align yourself with Jesus for you to have constant light.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, make me a magnet to attract souls to You.
