How to Become Heroes of Faith

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, May 1, 2024
For by it (faith), the elders obtained a good testimony.
Hebrews 11:2 (NKJV)

Biblical heroes of faith were common men and women who dared to believe in an exceptional God. Their experiences echo through the ages, serving as a constant reminder of the strength of unflinching faith in the face of uncertainty. From them, we can learn how to become heroes of faith.

How to Conquer

Abraham, for example, obeyed God when asked to God to a place he did not know. As a result, he benefited from God’s promises. He also became the father of nations, leaving a legacy that has lasted for many years.

Similarly, Moses had faith in God’s trustworthiness in spite of his uncertainties and anxieties. He stood before Pharaoh, faced the forces of oppression, and led the Israelites through the desert to the edge of the Promised Land.

Likewise, David learned to trust God as he faced wild animals in the wilderness. He leaned on the God of Israel during those trying times. He used a sling and a stone to defeat Goliath. Because David trusted God, He worked through this humble servant.

How to Become Heroes of Faith

These heroes of faith were weak people like us, who defied hardship and uncertainty, and conquered through God’s grace. They decided to trust in God’s promises in every situation because they knew God and His promises were unquestionable.

May we draw confidence from the examples of these faith-filled heroes as we go through life. Let their experiences encourage us to put our faith in God’s promises, even in the face of uncertainty. And may we, like them, become exemplary heroes of faith.

Prayer
Almighty God, by Your grace and power, make me a hero of faith.
