Joy Comes in the Morning

Daily Devotional – Sunday, June 9, 2024
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Psalms 30:5 (NKJV)

There are seasons in life—moments of happiness and pain, victories and setbacks. A fundamental truth and a ray of hope are found in Psalm 30:5, which states that joy comes in the morning, regardless of how dark the night of our souls may be.

Dawn Brings Hope

The gloom of a trying moment can easily overtake us. Feelings of doubt, dread, and despair can be difficult for us. The psalmist does, however, caution us that these emotions are short-lived. God’s favor lasts a lifetime, but His anger is momentary. This continuous kindness is evidence of His unwavering love and mercy.

Think about the comparison between darkness and morning. The night represents a trying time, a moment when we may feel helpless, alone, or hurt. But daylight usually comes after night. Light, warmth, and fresh starts are all brought about by dawn. Similar to this, God’s gladness and regeneration come after our tribulations.

Joy Comes in the Morning

This verse serves as a helpful reminder that although God’s timing is perfect, we still need to practice appreciation, strengthen our connection with Him, cling to His promises, and prioritize the study of His word.

Whatever difficulties you are now dealing with, keep in mind that they are just temporary. Joy comes in the morning. Remain firm in your faith and cling to God’s promises. The joy and rejuvenation that only God can bring are approaching with the arrival of morning.

Prayer
Almighty God, please enable me to trust You in the dark and during hardships, for joy comes in the morning.
