Let Me Not Be Ashamed

Daily Devotional—Wednesday, April 9, 2025
O my God, I trust in You. Let me not be ashamed. Let not my enemies triumph over me.
Psalms 25:2 (NKJV)

The main passage for today addresses a genuine and unfiltered aspect of the human heart: the desire to have faith in God and not be disappointed. In addition to exclaiming, “O my God, I trust in You,” he begs, “Let me not be ashamed.”

Let Not My Enemies Triumph Over Me

Everybody has had times when they put their trust in someone only to be let down. The psalmist, however, is putting all of his faith in God and not in fellow human beings. Indeed, he has faith that God won’t let him down, despite resistance and uncertainty.

Many Christians suffer from the dread of shame—of being misunderstood, of having our prayers unanswered, or of feeling as though their hope is misdirected. Scripture, however, promises that anyone who puts their faith in God will suffer no shame.

Let Me Not Be Ashamed

David is referring to more than simply people when he says, “Let not my enemies triumph over me.” These days, anxiety, uncertainty, insecurity, temptation, and spiritual attacks could be our opponents. However, putting our trust in God does not guarantee an easy life. Instead, it ensures that we will never face life alone.

Are there times when you have been hesitant to put your complete trust in God? Are you holding back because you’re afraid of the result or how other people might see you? Keep in mind that people who trust in God will never be ashamed.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I have decided to put my trust in You. As I surrender my life to You, I know that I will never be ashamed.
