Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom…
Luke 6:38 (NKJV)
A friend recently narrated an interesting story about generosity. His church approached him to donate towards a project. He gave the only money he had – $10.
A day later, a project he had worked for sent him $50, which he was not expecting. His sacrificial donation had been multiplied fivefold.
His experience reminded me of Luke 6:38. “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom…”
Jesus teaches that only by giving do we receive. He also stresses that what you receive back will not be the same amount you gave. It will be abundant and overflowing.
If you want to receive God’s blessings, unclench your fist and give out what you have first. The open hand is then ready to receive more from God. You become a channel through which God’s blessing flow to others, even as you enjoy the same blessings.
While giving is not bribing God to bless us, we should realize that “The way you treat others is the way you will be treated” (Luke 6:38, Contemporary English Version).
You, too, will be in need at one time or the other. Would you be happy to have others assist you? Extend a helping hand, in proportion to the blessings God has placed in your hands.
Look around you. Someone needs your financial, material, emotional or moral assistance. Help bring tears of joy to another person’s eyes today.
Lord Jesus, lead me to a person who requires my help today and show me how to assist.
You have reminded me this the right time Mr Maina.
God bless
Great to know that, Pastor. God bless you.
“Help bring tears of joy to another person’s eyes today”
These will be tears of more blessings to those who stretch their hands to helping, tears that will for more blessings to those who lend a hand.
This is true picture of a Christ like behaviour.
Its a good reminder to what we ought to do in our daily lives
Amen for todays word.
