Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
Most seats of power demand permission, protocol, and caution. Even when access is granted, people approach with careful restraint. Scripture reminds us that Queen Esther faced real danger when she stepped into the throne room of King Ahasuerus without being summoned. Courage was required because her life was on the line.
When Guilt Meets Grace
God’s throne is different. It is the greatest seat of authority in existence, yet it stands open to everyone. We are encouraged to come boldly because Jesus serves as our High Priest. He understands human weakness because He lived it. He felt hunger, exhaustion, pressure, and temptation just as we do.
Our key text reminds us that Jesus was tempted in every way we are, yet He did not sin. Because of this, He does not shame us for our struggles. Instead, He offers mercy for our failures and grace for our battles. Without Him, we would be vulnerable to sin, but with Him, we are strengthened.
Mercy Within Reach
There is one response required from us. We must come. Even when we feel unworthy or burdened by guilt, we are invited to approach God with confidence and ask for forgiveness and power to change. Do not let sin push you away from Jesus. Let it drive you toward Him.
Today, choose boldness. Run to God, knowing He welcomes you. Freedom and victory are found in His gracious arms.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, today I come boldly to Your throne of grace, that I may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
