Daily Devotional – October 7, 2022
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
Psalms 143:8 (NIV)
When I lived and worked in a rural community, the mornings were beautiful and inspiring. Watching the sun rising and listening to the chirping of birds was an unforgettable daily experience.
New Every Morning
There was no better time to pray and meditate on the goodness of God. It was reassuring to know that every new day was a daily instalment of mercy. I could confess with Prophet Jeremiah that God’s compassions, “…are new every morning.” (Lamentations 3:23).
Emptied of the worries of the previous day after a restful night, my mind was ready to strategize for the day. Getting the day’s priorities right made it possible to achieve most of the targets.
Morning and God’s Unfailing Love
King David must have had a similar experience, hence stating, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.” (Psalms 143:8).
Like David, we too, can make every morning as a reminder of the reliable love of God. Dawn and sunrise can be the awakening of an attitude of total trust in God. We can join chirping birds in expressing our gratitude to God for giving us life.
Morning and God’s Reliable Guidance
Every new day is an assurance that if we trust in God, He will show us the way we should go. In the midst of myriads of activities and the resultant confusion, how welcoming is it to know that God will speak into our hearts and leads us in paths of righteousness and prosperity?
Take advantage of the morning. Start the day with Jesus. Remind yourself that God will walk with you through the good, the bad and the ugly of the day. Let the morning bring you the word of God’s unfailing love and reliable guidance.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, may every morning remind me of Your unconditional love and constant presence in my life.
