Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.
Luke 18:17 (NKJV)
“Adulthood is a scam.” A friend of mine loves to say. “Society lied to us when we were children. It made us believe that our lives would be much better as adults. Look how unhappy we are today. Given a chance to become a child today, I would want to never grow old.” He says, in desperation.
Forever Young
This reminds me of James Cleveland Moore’s popular song, Where We’ll Never Grow Old. The song is about the future we anticipate after Jesus returns. In the new heavens and new earth, there will be no suffering, sickness and death. We will live forever with God. Age will not be an issue. We will never grow old.
Did you know, however, that there is a way you can avoid ageing even before you transition to the immortal body? Here is proof, from the mouth of Jesus Himself, “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Luke 18:17).
Being a Child Forever
Jesus wants us to adopt a childlike attitude towards His kingdom for us to enjoy the gift of agelessness in eternity. What does a childlike attitude entail? It implies having total trust in God the same way a child trust His parents. A child believes in the ability of the parent to supply every need (Philippians 4:19), hence no need for worry.
A son or daughter of God does not live in fear of life’s circumstances or in dread of other human beings. Receiving the kingdom of God as little child means rejoicing always (Philippians 4:4) because you know that your Heavenly Father is in control.
Never Grow Old
In essence, your body may age but your attitude must remain young. A child is always curious, always learning. When you continue tapping into the divine mind and energy, you will remain youthful in mind and spirit. Your thoughts, ideas, statement and actions will rejuvenate and energize those around you.
To remain young, read and meditate on the word of God every day. Feed your mind and spirit with positive thoughts. Let prayer be as essential as breathing to you. Cast your burdens on God and let Him carry them. Continue being Christ’s little child and you will never grow old.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, as in anticipate the ageless years of immortality You have promised me, I endeavour to remain your trusting child and to never grow old in thought, attitude and spirit.
