No Evidence? No Problem!

Daily Devotional: Thursday, March 20, 2025
Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:29 (NKJV)

Thomas questions Jesus’ resurrection until he sees and touches the risen Christ. For Thomas to believe, tangible evidence was required. True faith, however, is not dependent on sight. Instead, faith is the belief in something we know to be true but cannot see.

Believing Without Seeing

Even though we may not be able to see Jesus in person, as Christians we have His truth in His Word, His presence in our hearts, and the ensuing transforming power. We have faith that He is our Lord, our Savior, and our Redeemer, as He claims to be.

Faith is the ability to move forward in the face of uncertainty. It entails having faith in God’s promises in the face of ambiguity. It is the conviction that, despite our inability to see the results, God is at work.

No Evidence? No Problem!

For people, like us, who believe without seeing, Jesus proclaims a particular blessing. Scripture’s testimony, the Holy Spirit’s testimony, and the proof of God’s activity in our lives all support our faith, so it is not blind. True joy, serenity, and a close relationship with Jesus are the results of this type of faith.

Consider the ways that God has already operated in your life. Consider this question as you go about your day: Am I walking by sight or by faith? Even if you are unable to see the whole picture, have faith in the ever-faithful Jesus.

Prayer
Almighty God, help me to believe in You despite not seeing the results right away. I am grateful for the gift of blind faith. I make the decision to trust You now and forever.
