The lazy man will not plow because of winter. He will beg during harvest and have nothing.
Proverbs 20:4 (NKJV)
Our key text is a gentle but firm reminder that missed preparation leads to missed blessings. Back in biblical times, farmers had to work with the seasons. If someone skipped plowing during planting time, maybe because it was too cold, too laborious, or they simply didn’t feel like working, they had no right to expect a harvest later. The opportunity would be gone.
He Will Beg During Harvest
Our walk with God works the same way. He gives us seasons to plant seeds in our faith through prayer, reading His Word, serving others, and growing in character. If we keep putting it off because it is uncomfortable or inconvenient, we may find ourselves empty when we most need strength and provision.
Life’s blessings don’t come by accident. What we do today shapes what we experience tomorrow. Just like a farmer must sow to reap, we must be intentional about building our spiritual lives. The habits you choose now, including the hard ones, are investments in your future peace, joy, and closeness with God.
Of Missed Preparation and Missed Blessings
Do you want to enjoy the harvest and not beg? Don’t wait for a “better season” to start. Plow the ground of your life today, even if it feels tough. The effort you put in now will become the harvest you enjoy later. Remember, missed preparation results in missed blessings.
