And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
Deuteronomy 31:8 (NKJV)
Floods had marooned a troop of baboons. It appeared as if there was no escape for the frightened animals. Well, not until Bakari, the trusted leader, decided to take a leap of faith from a tree branch, about 70 feet high.
As soon as Bakari emerged from the water and onto dry land, he motioned his troop to follow suit. Young and old, brave and timid, mothers with children, took the leap of faith out of danger. Wherever Bakari led, they followed without question.
The LORD, He is the One Who Goes Before You
The God who taught Bakari how to lead wants us to model the practices of the troop. Listen to what God told Joshua, when the latter was about to inherit Moses’ mantle:
“And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8).
Joshua would face internal and external risks and dangers on the way to Canaan. However, he was not to fear because God Himself would go ahead of him (Joshua).
Take a Leap of Faith
If a troop of baboons can faithfully follow its leader through the unknown, how can we be reluctant to follow God through the known and unknown? Take a leap of faith today and follow God in the direction He leads you even if you don’t know the destination.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I will follow You Wherever You lead me today.
Amen..God give me grace to follow you.
