No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)
All Christians go through temptations. What makes the difference is the attitude and reaction of the person under temptation. You will either come out stronger in faith or bitter towards God and your circumstances.
God allows us to be tempted so that we mature in faith. When God’s children go through tough times, they come out like refined gold. Tough times are useful for developing godly character (1 Peter 1:6,7).
Our Father, however, understands our human frailties. He does not allow us to face trials alone. According to 1 Corinthians 10:13, we cannot be tempted beyond our strength. God knows our limits. He provides an escape route.
The three Hebrews who Nebuchadnezzar threw into the fiery furnace are a good example. When the king looked into the furnace, he recognized that the Son of God was in the furnace with His faithful servants! (Daniel 3). God became the escape route Himself.
When God instructed Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, a ram was provided as an escape route once Abraham had proved to be faithful. In Isaiah 43:2, God promises,
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.
Yes, you will go through floods and fire, but you will come out unharmed, says the Lord.
So, next time you experience hard, testing times, do not yield to sin. Do not lose faith. Never blame God or grumble. Tough times will make you a stronger Christian, if you endure.
God is there with you during your testing times. Once He attains His will for you in that temptation, He provides an escape route. Remember, He is faithful who called you.
Prayer
My God and my Lord, whenever I go through temptations and trials, remind me You are with me and that You will provide an escape route.
