Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)
Children are generally curious. You are unique if you have never been under unending questioning by a child. It can be fun. It can also be irritating, but if you love the child, you will listen and respond. Did you know God also wants us to be curious about Him and his workings in our lives?
Psychologists tell us there are many benefits that children derive from their inquisitive behaviour. It helps them think, be observant and expand their vocabulary. Teachers are taught to encourage curiosity in children because when one stops asking, one stops learning.
In Jeremiah 33:3, God makes a wonderful promise because He wants us to continue learning; to continue growing. This promise is an open cheque to Christians. You only need to write the amount you want on it. It does not dictate what we should ask for. It simply states that what God will reveal will blow our minds.
Parents can ask God for wisdom to raise their children and get insights they have never imagined. Spouses can request for guidance on how to bring the spark back into their marriages and receive feedback that no earthly counselor can give. Students can request for excellence in their academic work and God will answer their prayers.
None is excluded. Pastors, doctors, researchers, teachers, administrators, politicians, gardeners, cooks, drivers, single people and soldiers, are all invited to call on God for knowledge, understanding and wisdom in their daily lives. You can become ten times better, like Daniel and his friends. Just ask God for what you need.
Like a little child, never stop ‘’pestering your Heavenly Dad with questions on all areas of your life. I dare you to claim this promise (Jeremiah 33:3) today and see how God answers your prayers. Whatever it is that has been perplexing and disturbing you, take it to the Lord in prayer now.
Prayer
Father, I am calling upon you now. Please reveal to me ‘great and mighty things’ that I have never known in my spiritual, physical, mental and social aspects. Amen.
