The People Christ Came For

Daily Devotional – Monday, June 2, 2025
Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.
Mark 2:17 (NKJV)

Today’s key text is Christ’s response to people who were criticizing Him for hanging out with the tax collectors, sinners, and other outcasts of society. His words, though, cut straight to the heart of why He came in the first place. He came to save sinners, not those who think they have it all together.

To Call Sinners to Repentance

That’s incredibly good news After all, we are all broken in one way or another. We have all made mistakes, carried regrets, battled doubts, or felt unworthy. And Jesus doesn’t avoid our mess. He steps right into it. He doesn’t wait for us to fix ourselves before coming close. He comes to us because we need Him.

Like a doctor, Jesus came to bring grace, healing, and hope to people who know they need it. Perhaps you need to hear that today. You don’t have to pretend to be okay. You don’t have to earn His love. Just be honest with where you are, and let Him meet you there.

The People Christ Came For

Where in your life do you need Jesus to come close and heal what’s hurting? Is there someone around you who needs to be seen, loved, and reminded that they matter? Jesus didn’t come for perfect people. He came for sinful people, like you, and that changes everything.

Prayer
Jesus, thank You for loving me as I am, a sinner in need of grace and forgiveness. I need your healing touch. Help me receive Your grace and extend that same grace to others.
