While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.
Genesis 8:22 (NKJV)
A keen farmer doesn’t fight seasons. Instead, he changes how he works to fit them. During the quiet months, he gets ready, and during the fruitful months, he gathers. Life goes on not by fighting the seasons but by accepting them and having faith and determination.
God’s Rhythm for a Restless World
God says that the cycle of creation will go on: planting and harvesting, cold and hot, summer and winter, day and night. God is not just talking about the weather. He is setting up a reliable way for people to live by establishing natural rhythms and patterns that provide stability and predictability in their lives. Change doesn’t mean chaos. It is part of the structure that God made so that life can go on and grow.
There are times to grow, to rest, to work hard, and to wait. There are times when we have abundance and times when we face challenges or uncertainty about the future, such as during economic downturns or personal hardships that test our resilience. The cold of winter gives way to the warmth of spring. The long night finally gives way to day. That’s the God-ordained rhythm of life.
The Promise Hidden in Life’s Cycles
When things get tough, we don’t give up. Instead, we ask God what He is growing in us. Waiting can help you learn to be patient. Hard work can lead to a good harvest. Even times when things are quiet or painful can help us trust God more. We don’t have to panic when we remember that God controls the seasons.
What personal season are you in now? Embrace it, and persist despite it. Pray to God for help in understanding its purpose and responding faithfully within it. Plant what you can, tend to what has grown, and leave the rest to the Lord of the harvest. God’s steady rhythm still controls your life.
Pray
Almighty God, please help me trust You in every season of my life and respond with faith, patience, and hope.
