I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NKJV)
A heart transplant is a very delicate procedure. If it is successful, it can save a life. A person who needs a heart transplant is one who is oscillating between death and life.
Spiritually, too, all human beings require heart transplant. However, the heart in this case is the mind and its processes. If you are wondering why we need the operation, here are two important verses:
- “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9).
- “…the carnal mind is enmity against God. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” (Romans 8:8).
Transplanting a Heart of Flesh
Both Jeremiah and Paul teach that man’s mind is not amenable to righteousness. In other words, without God, we have hearts of stone that cannot fulfil the will of God. A stony heart is a rebellious one.
That is why God wants to perform a heart transplant to remove the stony heart and replace it with a one of flesh. Unlike a stony heart, which has no life, the one made of flesh is alive and malleable.
A Heart that Obeys God out of Love
During the heart transplant, the Holy Spirit fills the mind and continues with the work of character transformation. Such a person is in tune with heaven and obeys God out of love.
If you have not undergone a heart transplant, invite God to do it today. Apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit, nothing else can give you pure thoughts, attitudes and motives.
If your heart (mind) is unwell, the surgeon is always available to treat you give you a new lease of life.
Prayer
Father, I need a new heart of flesh, where you words will dwell and I will obey you naturally.
