The Weight You Forgot to Drop

Daily Devotional – Tuesday, March 31, 2026
Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Mark 11:24 (NKJV)

Let’s say you need to use a courier to deliver a crucial package. You visit the office, complete the form, and turn it in. But uncertainty creeps in as soon as you are gone. You begin to question whether it will actually be delivered. You keep calling the office on your way home to reassure yourself that they will take care of it. You let go of the package, but the anxiety, the weight you refused to drop, weighs heavily on you.

When Prayer Doesn’t Feel Finished

Sounds strange? That is the feeling you get when you read today’s key text. Jesus is talking about belief that rests in God rather than in outcomes. The words “believe” and “have received it” point to something happening inside you now, not later. Prayer isn’t about trying to change God’s mind but about trusting Him enough to leave things in His hands.

Before prayer, it is easy to feel anxious, almost rehearsing what to say so it comes out right. After prayer, the struggle often continues. You find yourself repeating the request, questioning if you’ve done enough, and then circling back to it. This verse gently suggests it’s time to rethink that familiar pattern and urges you to release it.

The Weight You Forgot to Drop

Believing you have received does not mean pretending everything has changed. It means something in you has settled. You are no longer holding the situation with tight hands. You are choosing to trust that God has heard you and is already at work, even if nothing looks different yet.

Therefore, when you pray, be honest, but do not hold on after you finish. Let it rest with God. When the urge comes to pick it up again, remind yourself that you have already placed it in His hands. Then keep moving forward with quiet confidence that He is taking care of it.

Prayer
Father in heaven, help me to trust You enough to release my prayers and rest in Your care even before I see the outcome.
