For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease.
Job 14:7 (NKJV)
The past five days have been frustrating for my ministry and me. I was unable to provide daily devotionals on my website for the first time in more than two years. Every one of those days was frustrating but something kept me going. I took courage in knowing there is hope for those who wait upon God.
Clinging to Expectation
I cannot count the number of times I pleaded with God to remove the hurdle that was preventing me from continuing with my ministry. I asked God many questions, which he answered through two devotionals I had written earlier.
The first one was, Please Don’t Answer My Prayer If. It reminded me that however much I wanted God to rescue me from my troubles, I had to submit to His will, which is perfect and supreme.
Optimistic to the End
The second devotional was, At The Right Time, Your Tears Will Cease. It reminded me that God has a perfect timing for everything and every person. In essence, at the right time, He would bring my website back online.
Finally, God’s will and timing converged today. My website is back online. My hope was not in vain. I had to be patient with God. Up to now, He has not explained why He kept silent when I was in agony but I know He was and is in control.
All Is Not Lost
Indeed, as Job stated, “For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground. Yet at the scent of water, it will bud. And bring forth branches like a plant.” (Job 14:7-9).
There is Hope
Are you going through frustrating times? Does God seem to hide His face from you? Do not lose hope. Be like the tree stump whose roots remain intact. People who see the stump in the dry season may dismiss it as being dead but God knows it has life in it.
Have hope in the God who brings the water that will cause you to bring forth branches, leaves, flowers and fruits. Cling to God and defy Satan’s attempts to discourage you. Never give up on yourself because God has not given up on you. There is hope for those who remain loyal to God, especially in their most trying times.
