To the Glory of God

Daily Devotional – Monday, July 29, 2024
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NKJV)

As human beings, we often concentrate on results and individual accomplishments when doing anything, from menial chores to important decisions. However, Paul urges us to change the way we see things in his letter to the Corinthians. “To the glory of God” affects not just what we do, but also how we do it.

For the Honor of God

Paul’s exhortation entails directing all of our actions, conversations, and thoughts toward God, thus turning our daily activities into acts of adoration. Think about eating and drinking, two seemingly ordinary acts that provide opportunity to glorify God. What impact would every meal bite have if it was intended to honor God? Do you see the in every aspect of your life to bring glory to God?

Everything changes when we approach our daily lives in this manner. Our interactions with people, our work ethic, and our kindness all serve as platforms for demonstrating God’s character and will. We bear witness to His presence in our lives by acting in ways that demonstrate His justice, compassion, and love.

To the Glory of God

Invite God into your interactions, work, and small acts of compassion today. Additionally, pause to consider your life in light of God’s glory. Take a moment each day to thank God for his involvement in your life. Recall that even stressful or ordinary times can present opportunities to exalt God. Allow this awareness to move your attention from the task at hand to the One who gives you the strength to finish it.

Prayer
Father in heaven, may my thoughts, deeds and words bring glory to Your name.
