Lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV)
The apostle Paul’s letter to the Corinthians reminds us not to be ignorant of the devil’s devices. We shouldn’t approach spiritual warfare ignorantly or treat it lightly because it is a real phenomenon. Comprehending this conflict is essential to our relationship with God and to maintaining our faith.
We are Aware
We can easily overlook the enemy’s subtle impacts in a society full of deceit and distractions. Pride, uncertainty, fear, and temptation are just a few of the seemingly innocent forms that Satan’s schemes frequently take. If we are not careful, these tactics might weaken our faith and divert us from the truth.
Paul encourages us to be vigilant by saying, “we are not ignorant of his devices.” In order to identify and thwart the enemy’s efforts, we must be guided by the Bible and exercise prayerful discernment. This entails reading God’s Word thoroughly, seeking for His guidance, and joining a Christian group that may provide accountability and support.
We are Not Ignorant
Being alert is about being equipped and enabled by God’s truth, not about being afraid of the enemy. Ephesians 6:11–12 exhorts us to put on all of God’s armor in order to fend off the devil’s schemes. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and God’s Word are all part of this armor.
Think for a moment about any situations in your life where you might be under spiritual attack or temptation. Pray to God for wisdom and understanding so you can detect any devious plans. Ask Him for direction on how to use His protection and truth in those areas and to emerge victorious.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help be to be watchful and cognizant of the ways that the devil could attempt to mislead me.
