Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.
Matthew 2:2 (NKJV)
Through various prophets, God had foretold the birth of Jesus Christ. Daniel predicted the exact year when Jesus would come and minister on earth:
“Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks.” (Daniel 9:25).
Micah pinpointed the precise birthplace of Jesus:
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me. The One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.” (Micah 5:2).
Consequently, “…when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” (Galatians 4:4).
We have seen his star in the East
Despite having all this information at their disposal, the Jewish leaders were oblivious of the birth of Jesus. It took the visit of the magi from a foreign land for the Jews to know the Messiah had been born. Talk about being lost in the house of the Lord!
The magi were overwhelmed with joy for the privilege of finding the Messiah. They journeyed to Jerusalem, hoping to find the Jews in celebratory mood. They asked, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” (Matthew 2:2).
I can imagine their excitement as they shouted, “We have seen His star!” Since then many have seen that star and it has filled them with gladness. It is because we followed that star that we will inherit eternal life.
We cannot keep silent! He is coming back
That said, like the magi, we cannot keep silent when we encounter see the star. We have to let everyone know that we have seen Him who said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12).
In addition, the other best way to celebrate the first coming of Christ is to prepare for the second one. The mission that began on the first Christmas will be completed when Christ returns. All signs point to the imminent coming of the Lord.
Amid all our celebrations this Noel, let us remind others and ourselves that Jesus said, “And behold, I am coming quickly.” (Revelation 22:12). We have seen the star. We know Jesus is coming back soon. Merry Christmas!
Thank You Jesus because the first Christmas and Your Second Coming remind me that you love me beyond measure and unconditionally.

Amen, Elder.
