Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weakling say,
“I am strong!”
Joel 3:10 (NKJV)
The prophet Joel urges a nation in desperate circumstances to get ready for a time of judgment and battle by declaring, “Let the weakling say, “I am strong!”” At first, it may appear to be an appeal for puffiness or naive optimism. However, it is richer and deeper than that, though.
Let the Weak Say I am Strong
This verse is not just about being ready physically. It is also a spiritual affirmation that both declares God’s might within us and acknowledges our weakness as human beings. It is a call to put our faith in God’s strength and grace, which is more than enough.
It is when we feel unworthy, overburdened, or incapable of handling things that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. Then, by being honest about our areas of weakness or incapacity, we should accept our shortcomings.
What to Do When You Feel Weak
In essence, when we confess our weaknesses, we declare God’s strength and assert God’s promises for our lives. Our sense of weakness prompts us to proclaim that we are powerful in Christ. His teachings become our power and our reality.
Through prayer, worship, and reading God’s Word, let us learn to rely on God’s strength and might. Furthermore, we must surrender to His Spirit so that He can give us the strength and bravery we require each day. When we feel weak, let us declare in the Lord, “I am strong.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge my weakness. Kindly make it simpler for me to depend on Your might each and every day.
