Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might...

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)

Work preceded sin as this verse reveals, “Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” (Genesis 2:15). God did not create man to be idle but to work and improve upon what God had given him.

Whatever Your Hand Finds To Do

Today, unfortunately, man looks down upon work. He considers labour to be drudgery. We want to work ‘smart’, not ‘hard’. In contrast, God commands us through Solomon, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

Jesus, our perfect example in every aspect of life, spent more time as a carpenter than as a preacher and healer. When He began His ministry, His mantra was, “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working” (John 5:17).

Do It, Do It At Once, Do Not Talk About It

Christ’s example is for us to follow in all our undertakings. Wherever God has placed us, our colleagues, clients, customers, classmates, neigbours, and all we interact with, must associate us with diligence and excellence.

Let us meditate on these words by Charles Spurgeon:

“Do it, do it at once, do not talk about it, do not regret that you have not done it and sit down and fret because you have done so little in the past. It is little use crying over the spilt milk of your past life. If you have not done what you should, up, Man, and do what you can!”

Following in Heaven’s Footsteps

God is a worker. He detest idleness. Jesus set the example. Today, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might...”

Heavenly Father, always remind me to give my best in everything You have assigned me to do.

The ground was cursed and man had to toil and moil for daily providence. Upon this God puts our faith into test for a blessing, as faithful stewards. Whatever your hands finds to do, do it with your might for the glory of God.
