One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life…
Psalms 27:4 (NKJV)
In Exodus 25:8, God directed the Israelites, “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” In Eden, God lived with Adam and Eve.
Later, God came down to earth to dwell with men. He is Immanuel (God with us). In the earth made new, God will also dwell with us (Revelation 21:3).
If God so longs to dwell with us, how should we respond? David has an answer:
One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. (Psalms 27:4).
The Tabernacle in David’s time and our places of worship symbolize ‘the house of the Lord’. However, because God is not restricted by space, we can be in the presence of God anywhere, anytime.
Being in God’s presence means your thoughts, words and actions are aligned to heaven at all times. That way, God will imbue you with His love and character. Your character will be transformed. In the presence of God, you will get answers to all your perplexities.
You can be in God’s presence all the days of your life by allowing God the Holy Spirit to dwell in you. He is only a prayer away.
Where else would you be today but in the presence of God?
Father, thank You because through Your Holy Spirit, I can be in Your Presence anywhere, anytime.
What is it that you desire the most today? This devotional discusses a very critical need of the human mind. Please leave a comment after reading. Be blessed.
