When Small Things Matter

Daily Devotional – Thursday, November 20, 2025
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.
Zechariah 4:10 (NIV)

A young boy once planted a tiny mango seed behind his family’s house. For weeks nothing happened. He watered it faithfully and checked the soil each morning. His siblings laughed because they saw no sign of progress. Then one quiet morning a small green shoot broke through the earth. What looked insignificant to others filled him with joy because he knew it was the beginning of something fruitful.

God in the Small Steps

Life often feels the same. We crave big results fast and expect instant breakthroughs. Yet God reminds us that small beginnings matter. He delights in the first step, the first prayer, and the first act of obedience. What seems tiny to us holds great potential in his hands.

A new prayer group met in a cramped room with five members. No one expected much. They prayed, studied Scripture, and cared for one another. Over time the group grew into a ministry that served the community. That humble start became a blessing because members remained faithful to the little beginning.

When Small Things Matter

Zechariah urged God’s people to value small starts. Their obedience seemed minor but heaven rejoiced because God was at work. Many journeys start quietly. A new habit a kind word or a renewed devotion can be the first step toward something remarkable.

God shapes our character in these early moments. Like a seed that needs time care and patience to become a strong tree our dreams and faith unfold slowly. Remember a small beginning in your life thank God for it and trust his timing, and keep moving forward.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for every small beginning. Help me trust Your timing and remain faithful as You grow Your work in me.
