But to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings…
Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)
Malachi 4:2 uses the metaphor of the “sun of righteousness” rising with healing to symbolize the life, warmth, and light that come from our Savior. This verse serves as a reminder that people who honor and revere God will encounter His brilliant power in a world full of uncertainty and gloom.
With Healing in His Wings
The word “healing” connotes not only physical recovery but also spiritual and emotional rejuvenation. Everybody has wounds, some obvious and others not. God promises healing through Christ. God’s grace offers hope and healing into our lives, just as a fresh day brings warmth and brightness.
The image of calves jumping out of the stall conjures feelings of happiness and liberation. We are freed from the weight of sin and hopelessness when we accept God’s righteousness. He extends an invitation for us to leave our captivity and enter the bountiful life He provides.
The Sun of Righteousness
Think for a moment about all aspects of your life that require mending. Pray for God to meet these needs. Make time for prayer and reading God’s Word a priority. Let His light fill the gloomy parts of your heart with healing and rejuvenation.
Think about how you may share your faith, for example through worship, testifying, or helping others. Allow the Lord to shine through you. Seek opportunities to spread that hope to others as you witness God’s healing work in your own life. Sharing your experience with God might encourage another person to trust in the Sun of Righteousness.
