And they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”
Mark 16:3 (NIV)
It is early Sunday morning. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome are on their way to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus. One of them suddenly remembers that the tomb was covered with a heavy stone on Friday evening.
They ask one another, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” (Mark 16:3). Their determination, however, is evident seeing they keep walking even as they seek a solution.
They Saw the Stone Had Been Rolled Away
Like these godly women, we all face real and imagined ‘insurmountable’ challenges in life. By our own strength, we cannot overcome these obstacles. We wonder who will remove the obstacles for us.
Thankfully, when the women arrived at the tomb, they “saw that the stone…had been rolled away.” (Verse 4). God, knowing the frailties of His servants, had sent an angel earlier to remove the stone.
God Rolls Away the Stone as We Journey
Today, the same God goes ahead of us and removes real and imaginary hurdles that impede our path to the life He has designed for us. However, like the three women, we must not wait until we see the stone removed for us to continue with our temporal and spiritual journeys.
If you worry about the challenges you think you face and decide to give up, you will never realize that God has already overcome the hurdles for you. By the grace of God, decide to walk with God faithfully as He leads you to your destiny.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, increase my faith that I may see Your goodness beyond my real and perceived obstacles.
Amen..This reiterates the message of hope in Isaiah:57.14…..Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.”
Thank you God for always being ahead of us,to remove the obstacles in our paths.
Quite true, Doc.
We will always meet obstacles and hurdles in our way,but today’s devotion gives us the assurance then when we do, The Lord God will have always prepared a means by which we can overcome.
God wants us to trust Him and walk by faith. Thanks, Doc.
