Who’s on the Throne of Your Heart?

Daily Devotional – Saturday, September 13, 2025
Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
Romans 6:12 (NKJV)

Imagine you are watching a soccer match and one player suddenly stops playing by the rules. He picks up the ball with his hands, slides into dangerous tackles, and starts barking out orders like he is both captain and referee. If the whole team copied him, the match would dissolve into complete chaos.

Let Sin not Reign in Your Heart

That is exactly how sin works in our lives. It tries to take over, bend the rules, and leave everything in a mess. Paul warns us that grace is not a free pass to keep living in sin. He cautions us not to give sin the throne of our hearts. By the power of God, we are no longer under sin’s control. We serve God.

That does not mean temptation disappears. We all face moments where anger flares up, pride sneaks in, or old habits whisper, “Just this once.” The good news is that we are not powerless. God’s Spirit gives us the strength to say no and to choose what is right.

Who’s on the Throne of Your Heart?

Who’s on the Throne of Your Heart? Could your words, your thoughts, or a hidden struggle be calling shots in your life? Surrender to Jesus today. Ask God for courage and self-control in those small, daily choices. Let His Spirit lead you instead of old patterns. Over time, those little decisions will build a life that points to His goodness.

Prayer
Dear God, thank You for Your grace through which I am saved. Remind me that sin does not own me anymore because You are on the throne of my heart.
