Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)
I grew up in a predominantly Christian community, but I had many Muslim friends. We attended the same school. We coexisted, as if we had no religious differences.
That said, nothing prepared me for the experience of living in a community of 99.9% Muslims. Being a minority in my new workplace put me and my faith on the spot. On multiple occasions, I found myself defending my religious beliefs.
Though I was not under persecution like the 1st century Christians, I indirectly had to explain why I was a Christian. In 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV), the Apostle wrote, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
How can I, always, be prepared to witness for my faith? “But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord.” 1 Peter 3:15 (The Amplified Bible).
My choice of diet, beverages, entertainment, and beliefs, are opportunities to tell others about the hope in me. You are likely to find yourself explaining your dress code, choice of friends, or even your decision to be honest or non-confrontational.
I don’t need to organize a religious campaign to tell people about my faith. The opportunities are right where I am. The question I should ask is, “Why am I a Christian? When I find genuine answers to this question, I will always be ready to lift up Jesus.
Lord Jesus, live in me and make me ready to lift you up, always.
This reminds me of some Christians who cannot courageously confess their faith because of fear.
If you fear to witness Christ amongst many he will not also testfy of you.
Christians we are obligated to witness Christ to all.
Well-said, Pastor. This is a topic we really need to discuss.
elder it is indeed a topic we have to discuss about as a church ,let from an early age children be prepared in all ways let them be told with bibilical refference why they are laborers of the lord right from that early age.
I agree, Brian. God bless you for the comment.
