Why Faith is Mandatory

Daily Devotional – Saturday, May 3, 2025
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)

What do faith and pleasing God have in common? Faith is the foundation of our walk with God. On the other hand, we endeavor to please God in every way. Now, if we are going to have a real relationship with God, faith is not optional. Faith is mandatory if we want to please God.

Impossible to Please Him…

Nevertheless, today’s key verse is not about ticking boxes or merely trying to impress God. It entails trusting Him. He is not asking us to put on a show. He is inviting us into a relationship built on the belief that He exists, that He is good, and that He is worth pursuing.

We often get busy and forget to seek God unless something goes wrong. The writer of Hebrews, however, reminds us that God rewards those who pursue Him intentionally. These rewards include not only material things but also His peace, guidance, strength, and presence. Is there a more valuable blessing we could ask for?

Why Faith is Mandatory

Take a moment to reflect on the following: Are you really seeking and pleasing God? Do you seek Him out of habit or pressure or because you want to know Him? Do you need to reconnect with God? Remember that He notes every little effort to connect with Him, and He responds with love.

Prayer
Almighty God, sometimes I get distracted or discouraged, and I stop seeking for and pleasing You. Nonetheless, I want to live for You every day. Give me the kind of faith that moves me closer to You daily.
