My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1 John 2:1 (NKJV)
According to Paul, “…we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” (Romans 14:10). “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12).
Solomon teaches, “…God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:14).
Jesus adds, “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment.” (Matthew 12:36).
It is evident that, “… we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
Do You Need an Advocate?
How confident are you to stand alone before Jesus and to be judged according to His perfect law?
In secular courts, the accused hires a lawyer to advise and represent him or her before a judge. A good advocate fights for the acquittal or fair sentencing of the client.
Do you need an advocate to argue out your case before Jesus?
Apostle John, knowing how weak human beings are, writes, “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1 John 2:1).
Judge and Advocate?
I have never heard of a case where the judge was also the advocate. How is it even possible that the same person who is to sentence the accused is the one who defends the accused? Yet, that is exactly what the Bible says about Jesus.
Although He is our Judge, Jesus sympathizes with our weaknesses. He understands our helplessness. He knows that even when we sincerely want to live righteously, Satan can take advantage of our frailties and lead us to sin.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just
That is why, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9). When Jesus forgives us, He treats us as if we have never sinned. That is why He will acquit us in the judgement.
Jesus does not acquit us because we have not sinned but because He has taken our place by His death on Calvary.
How comforting is it to know that your Judge is also Your Advocate? You have nothing to fear except having unconfessed sin.
Lord Jesus, thank You because You are my Judge and my Advocate.
Thankyou for reminding us that Jesus is our advocate.
Amen, George. It gives us hope that despite our human weaknesses, we will make it to heaven and inherit eternal life.
This is Awesome Sermon today Sir.Thanks to Our Lord Jesus Christ for accepting to bear our Sins on the Cross, and become our Advocate & Judge.May Almighty God have Mercy on Us all the time.Amen🙏
Indeed God is on our side, Chairman.
Thank God for our Advocate Jesus Christ.
Indeed if Jesus we choose we cannot loose a case for he presents us faultless before the judgement seat of God.
Jude 1:24~”Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy”
Amen, Charles
