When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.
Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV)
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were faithful servants of Jehovah in Babylon. Their first encounter with King Nebuchadnezzar was a near-death experience. Eventually, though, they came out “ten times better.” (Daniel 1:20).
In Daniel 2, the three Hebrew lads prayed with Daniel for God to reveal the meaning of the king’s strange dream. From this encounter, the heathen monarch admitted, “Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of kings.” (Daniel 2:47).
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego defy the king
Perhaps the three men did not expect Nebuchadnezzar to trouble them in relation to the worship of Jehovah. However, because it is Satan’s business to ensure the true worshippers of God have no peace, another test was on the way.
The golden image on the plain of Dura provided the perfect opportunity for the devil trouble God’s servant. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego defied the king by refusing to worship the imposing image.
We Will not Worship the Gold Image which You have set up
Now, here is a practical definition of unwavering faith in God.
“…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18).
Heaven was so thrilled with this demonstration of faith and courage the Jesus decided to come down Himself. That is why Nebuchadnezzar wondered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” (Daniel 3:25).
When You Walk Through the Fire, You Shall Not Be Burned
The God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego is still in business today. To His faithful servants, He promises, “When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.” (Isaiah 43:2).
If God allows you to go into a furnace today, He will be there with you. Whatever fire you face in your personal, family, work and other spheres, take courage because you are with the God who walks in the midst of Fires for you.
Thank You Jesus because You don’t leave me to face the furnaces of life alone.
Amen.. Indeed, when through the fire we should trust that God shall step in.
Thank you, Doc, for your comment. That’s how God works. He never leaves us alone.
