What is man that You are mindful of him?
Psalm 8:4 (NKJV)
The joy of a parent is to see his children healthy, happy and prosperous. A parent will sacrifice everything else to make his child happy. Similarly, an artist may choose not to sell his best drawing and keep it for admiration and motivation.
There is a special bond between the creator and the creature. However, there is one unique object that the creator values most. David asks, “What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?” Psalms 8:4.
God is the Creator of uncountable solar systems and planets, yet His concern for the earth is incomparable. Man is third in rank, after God and angels. He is also given dominion over all that God has created (Psalm 8:5-8).
No wonder David exclaims, “O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!” (v 9). When you will realize how unworthy you are because of your fallen nature, yet God exalts you above all else, you will marvel at God’s greatness and wisdom.
God created you for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). More than your earthly parent, God wants to see you grow and prosper. You are the Jewel on God’s crown. You bear His name. He wants you to enjoy a dignified, joyful and fulfilled life.
God is working to transform you back into His image, so that He can say of you, “This is My beloved child, in whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17). Will you allow God to recreate you for His glory today?
