Why We Need the Great Physician

“For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds,” says the LORD.
Jeremiah 30:17 (NKJV)

In the journey of faith, we have shattered moments, times when our bodies weaken from the weight of suffering, and moments when our spirits ache. Suffering, whether in the form of physical sickness, mental turbulence, or spiritual disturbances, is a common part of the human experience. We must, therefore, learn to trust the Great Physician.

I Will Heal Your Wounds

Numerous stories of miraculous healings may be found throughout the Bible, all of which attest to God’s unwavering compassion and absolute power over everything. For example, we see the transforming power of faith in action in the lepers cleaned by Jesus’ touch and the blind who regained their sight at his word.

God’s restorative work also encompasses the healing of wounded hearts and the resuscitation of hope amid hopelessness. Jesus extends comfort to the weary and burdened, urging us to put our concerns upon him and find rest for our souls, just as he healed the ill and infirm.

Why We Need the Great Physician

We give ourselves over to God’s healing touch when we come to him in complete trust and lay down our troubles at his feet. Then, we have to trust God’s promise: “For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds.” (Jeremiah 30:17).

May we never lose sight of the possibility of healing that lies ahead for us as we navigate this life. May our faith serve as a light of hope for everyone in need of healing, directing them to Jesus Christ, the Great Physician, the source of all healing and wholeness.
