Why You Cannot Do Without Divine Wisdom

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, December 13, 2023
For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV)

Life revolves around decision-making. Every day and every hour, we need to make one decision or another. Some of them are mundane, while others are crucial to our lives. Ultimately, all decisions have consequences, and that is why we need to tap into the source of impeccable wisdom: God.

Making Daily Choices

For example, choosing a career has long-term implications for your life. Similarly, your choice of spouse will determine how you live until you die. Within marriage itself, you need to make decisions daily and, in the process, impact the lives of your spouse and children for good or for evil.

Right from the moment you wake up, you have to decide what to wear, knowing quite well that people may draw conclusions about your faith based on your outward appearance. Additionally, you must decide what to eat because your diet determines your health and your ability to serve both God and man.

A Life of Decision-Making

In your workplace or learning institution, there are a plethora of situations where you have to make decisions. They include choices revolving around ethics, integrity, professionalism, and general conduct. Your choices, in turn, determine how far you will scale your career ladder and life in general.

In the spiritual realm, decision-making has a more significant implication. Surrendering your life to Jesus is the best decision. Along with it are obligations to choose your thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions in alignment with the will of God. Your choices today have eternal implications.

Why You Cannot Do Without Divine Wisdom

That is why you cannot do without divine wisdom. Only by relying on the Omniscient God can you make the right decision in your everyday life. Indeed, as King Solomon asserts, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2:6). If you want to please God, live honorably, and serve humanity with love and respect, practice tapping into heavenly wisdom all the time.

Prayer
Almighty God, give me wisdom, knowledge, and understanding so that the decisions I make may please You and make me a more effective agent of Your kingdom on earth.
