Why You Must Keep Going

Daily Devotional – Tuesday, January 21, 2025
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
Philippians 3:12 (NKJV)

Paul admits that he hasn’t “arrived” or attained the pinnacle of perfection, despite his experience of faith. Rather, he characterizes his spiritual path as an ongoing endeavor—moving forward in pursuit of the mission that Christ has called him to.

I’m Pressing On

Since Christ was the one who initially sought us, living a Christian life is about seeking Him sincerely rather than striving for perfection. There is always opportunity for improvement, regardless of where we are in our spiritual path.

Our spiritual development frequently entails enduring hardships, temptations, and periods of uncertainty. Paul urges us to persevere despite the temptation to give up when we encounter obstacles or fail to live up to our expectations. We are urged to keep going forward while having faith that God is at work within us.

Why You Must Keep Going

Have you reached a point in your faith where you’ve become complacent? Pray for God to rekindle your enthusiasm for His work. Keep in mind that your value is independent of your success. You are already in Christ’s grasp. Allow His love to inspire and uphold your endeavors.

You don’t need to know everything right now. Keep going while maintaining your focus on Jesus, the creator and consummator of your faith. The strength to keep moving forward till we attain perfection in His presence comes from Him.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, because Your grace is sufficient for me and You are the one leading me, I will keep going until I attain the goal You have set for me.
