Why You Should Allow God to Plan for You

Daily Devotional – Thursday, January 28, 2021

For the Lord of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?

Isaiah 14:27 (NIV)

All of us have experienced frustrations in life. Have you ever come up with ‘error-proof’ plans only for them to crumble when you least expected? How do your plans compare to God’s? What do you stand to gain from allowing God to plan for you?

When you fail to think through a plan severally before implementing it, chances of failure are high. Your plans can also be unsuccessful because you lack adequate resources.  Similarly, your strategies may flop simply because you are human and cannot predict the future.

Moreover, fellow human beings are as fallible as you. Those you trust to implement your plans may deliberately sabotage you. Some are so inept and undisciplined that they will fail you like it is their full-time job to flop.

The good news is that there is One whose plans will never be frustrated. In Isaiah 14:27, we read, “For the Lord of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it?” Nobody can cancel God’s plans. Wouldn’t you want to have God plan for you, then?

Imagine making plans and continuing to work towards their achievement with the assurance that the goal will be reached? Isn’t it amazing and reassuring to know that the One who plans for you is all-knowing and can see the future?

In a world where you are not certain of anything, you can rest easy knowing that nobody can turn the outstretched hand of God when He moves in your favour. Your enemies may try to frustrate you, but the Lord of Hosts will not allow it.

Today, place all your plans in God’s hands. Tell Him to order your life according to His infinite wisdom. You will never go wrong with God. Indeed, no weapon formed against you shall prosper because your life is ordered by the Lord of Hosts (Isaiah 54:17).

Prayer

Father, I submit all my plans to you because only then will I not be frustrated. Amen.
