Why You Should Make Room for God

Daily Devotional—Saturday, February 14, 2025
And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.
Exodus 25:8 (NKJV)

God has wanted to live among His people since the beginning. That is why He gives the Israelites instructions to construct a sanctuary, where He will interact with them closely, as per the key text. He gives humanity a glimpse of His salvation plan through the tabernacle. On our part, it is a privilege to make room for God in our hearts and lives in response to His longing to dwell with us.

That I May Dwell Among Them

Following Jesus’ death, the sanctuary service was discontinued, but this did not imply that God no longer desired to dwell among us. He does, in fact, reside in each of us through the Holy Spirit. We are His living sanctuary. He lives in our hearts, not just in a physical tabernacle.

However, we must prepare our hearts. in the same way that the children of Jacob built a hallowed place for God. Do we need to give Him control over any aspects of our lives? Through worship, prayer, and obedience, do we create space for His presence? We encounter God’s serenity, direction, and transformation when we fully accept Him into our lives.

Why You Should Make Room for God

Make time today to worship and pray as you invite God into your life. Look into your heart; are you unable to fully experience His presence because of sins or other distractions? Give them up to Him. Live with the knowledge that you are God’s home, illuminating and loving. everyone around you. Make room for God.

Prayer
Almighty God, thank You for wanting to live with me. Help me create room for You in my heart and life.
