Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Genesis 1:2 (NIV)
Albert Einstein learned to speak and to write when he was four and seven years old respectively. His parents and teachers labelled him mentally handicapped. Who would have thought Einstein would become one of the greatest physicist of all time?
The principle at work in Einstein life is contained in the second verse of the Bible. “Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” (Genesis 1:2).
Who would have imagined that a beautiful planet would emerge from the formless, empty and dark rocky mass hidden under water? To the naked eye, nothing good could ever come from the prevailing situation.
The earth-to-be, however, had massive potential for producing and sustaining life because the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Where the Holy Spirit of God is, there is life, despite any appearances to the negative.
You current negative situation is not your destiny. As long as the Holy Spirit is in you, you have hope for a better future. Today you may be down under the weight of sin, guilt, debt, joblessness and so on. Your life may be dark, formless, empty and hopeless.
Don’t allow those circumstances to define you. Always remember that when God is inside you, you will achieve your potential in God’s own time. God will soon say, “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3) in your life.
Holy Spirit, thank You because you dwell in me. Thank You for the assurance of hope beyond my current circumstances.
