For I am the LORD, I do not change. Therefore, you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Malachi 3:6 (NKJV)
On a trip to my village after several years of absence, I realized a lot had changed.
My favourite river was almost drying up. High-rise concrete buildings now occupied our former playing grounds. In addition, most of the new inhabitants were not as friendly as our generation.
I longed for the old days but they were gone. Change had happened and this village was not the one I had known before.
I am the LORD; I do not change
Everything and everyone keeps changing, sometimes rapidly. Some people you knew and counted on before are no longer reliable. Political and religious leaders vacillate on issues of principle.
You, too, have changed. You are getting older and probably wiser. Your body is slowing down. Your life’s priorities keep changing. You know the end is drawing near. You know you will not live forever.
Our only hope is in the One who says, “For I am the LORD, I do not change.” (Malachi 3:6). God alone can guarantee us stability and gives us hope for a better life.
The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever
Because He cannot change, we can trust in His goodness and infinite love. He will fulfil His promises because He is unchangeable. When life is unbearable, we can run to Him for refuge knowing He will not let us down.
When human beings disappoint you, when life takes a turn for the worse, when all around you there is instability and uncertainty, remember, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8).
Prayer
Dear God, thank You because You do not change and I can trust in You fully.
Trust is the lord is the safest way to face uncertainties and changes in life.
May God help me to trust in even when all around is changing and cannot be trusted.
Amen. That is my prayer, too, Doc.
He is Alfa and omega
Indeed He is! He does what man cannot even imagine doing. God bless you for the contribution, Solomon.
