Will You Accept God’s Vaccine Against Sin?

Daily Devotional – Wednesday, November 24, 2021

Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

Psalms 119:11 (NKJV)

In the year 2020, rising COVID-19 infections and deaths informed the search of a vaccine. Medical researchers spent billions of dollars to develop various vaccines to curb the diseases.

Vaccines boost natural body immunity hence decreasing the risk of infection from diseases such as Coronavirus.

The next formidable task was to convince the public to accept inoculation. While there was apathy among some people, it became evident that vaccines were the best weapon to overcome the illness.

A Disease Worse Than COVID

According to the Bible, sin is a deadlier disease than COVID 19. Like coronavirus, sin has spread to all parts of the world. However, while not all human beings contract COVID 19, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23).

Thankfully, there is a vaccine for sin, too. David identifies it in Psalm 119:11, which states, “Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You.” The word of God is the best weapon for defeating sin.

God’s word is His will as revealed in the Bible. Hiding the word in the heart means cherishing and memorizing it. More importantly, it means living by the word of God.

The Example of Jesus

Jesus gave us the perfect example in Matthew 4:1-11, when Satan tempted Him. Thrice, Jesus responded to the devil with these words, “It is written.” When we receive the scriptural vaccine against sin, we will normalize saying, “Thus says the Lord.”

Those who reject the scriptural jab have to contend with the fact that, “The soul who sins shall die.” (Ezekiel 18:4). Either we accept God’s jab for the sin disease or we face the fearful consequence of eternal death.

Hiding God’s Word In The Heart

Make the Bible your friend today. Create a Bible reading plan or get one from the internet. Schedule regular time to retreat and prayerfully read scripture. Practice the lessons you learn from your Bible study sessions. Hide the word of God in your hear and get immunity against sin.

Abba Father, may Your word richly dwell in me (Colossians 3:16) that I may please You in all my ways.

I read the book of John chapter 8:31-31 and combined it with John 17:16-17 and finally John 1:1-4 and found that the word of God is not only his will, but the word is God himself. That’s why Jesus prayed to God to sanctify his disciples with it. It has the power to sanctify because from the begging this word was with God, and as the same time, the word was God. If one makes friendship with this word, he/she is making friendship with God himself.
