Work to Glorify God

Daily Devotional – Friday, April 5, 2024
And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23–24 (NKJV)

Work significantly impacts our lives. Our everyday obligations and chores demand our time and energy, whether we are participating in our communities, running a household, or pursuing a job. Work is an opportunity to exalt God rather than just a means to a goal.

Put Forth Effort to Exalt God

Christians are expected to view our job from a different angle. We are urged to consider suffering as a means of serving God and others, rather than as a hardship or an unavoidable evil. When we work hard and morally, we emulate Christ and show the people around us how much He loves them.

The Bible tells us that the value of our labor is eternal. If we approach every work we do with the intention of pleasing God, then it can be an act of worship. Even while we might not always get credit or appreciation from others, we can be confident that our efforts are not in vain.

Work to Glorify God

Knowing that the Lord is the source of our ultimate reward, Colossians 3:23–24 exhorts us to work with all of our hearts, as unto Him. Let us keep in mind that living a life that pleases God is the genuine measure of significance in a world where financial wealth, professional growth, or social standing are frequently used to determine success. Work to glorify God.

Prayer
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for giving us the ability to work and for the chances it gives us to serve You and others.
