How God Leads us to Triumph

Daily Devotional – Thursday, July 20, 2023
So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said, “Rise up, O LORD! Let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You.
Numbers 10:35 (NKJV)

To learn how God leads us to triumph, let us examine two critical aspects of the life of the Israelites in the wilderness. After they had left Egypt in miraculous fashion, the children of Jacob arrived in the desert where harsh conditions awaited.

Divine Guidance for Daily Victory

During the day, there was extreme heat. At night, freezing cold brought discomfort. Thankfully, God created an air-conditioned environment for them. During the day, the Almighty covered them with a cloud, shielding them from the jot sun. At night, He provided a pillar of fire to keep them warm.

The cloud had another special role. It provided guidance and direction. Whenever it stopped, the Israelites pitched tent. Similarly, when the cloud moved, it was time to continue with the journey. In essence, as long as we follow Him unquestioningly, He will enable us to triumph over limiting conditions in spiritual and temporal affairs.

Let Your Enemies be Scattered

In addition, after the Israelites had built the sanctuary, God gave an exceptional command concerning the Ark of the Covenant. Once the cloud indicated the direction of movement, the Ark would lead and the people would follow. In other words, the Israelites were to prioritize God if they were to succeed in conquering the enemy and reaching the Promised Land.

Now we understand why “whenever the ark set out, that Moses said, “Rise up, O LORD! Let Your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate You flee before You.”” (Numbers 10:35). The Ark preceding the Israelites in their journey to Canaan and during battle was an assurance that God was with them and would give them victory over their enemies, who were, essentially, the enemies of God.

How God Leads us to Triumph

Today, the same privilege of having God so near is ours to claim. If we prioritize God in our plans and allow Him to lead us, we can request Him to arise and fight our enemies every day. No challenge is unconquerable when we walk behind God, obeying His commands unquestioningly. That is how God leads us to triumph.

Prayer
Almighty God, because I want to be a victor in this life and inherit eternal life, I will prioritize You and walk behind You every day.
