And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.
Exodus 25:8 (NKJV)
One of the relics of my childhood is the image of an angry God waiting to throw people into hell. He would get angry at the slightest provocation and unleash punishment on them. Thankfully, I later came to know that God loves human company more than I imagined.
I May Dwell Among Them
While there are many instances where God comes out as a lover of the children of Adam, let us focus on Exodus 25:8, which states, “And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” (Exodus 25:8). God is speaking to Moses and requesting for the Israelites to allow Him live in their midst.
Who are these people that God loves so much? They are former slaves He is rehabilitating and reforming to become like Him in character. They have already demonstrated to Him their rebelliousness nature and their propensity to the goodies of Egypt. Given a chance, many would pack and return to slavery instead of worshipping and obeying the true God.
I Will Make My Dwelling With Men
Why, then, does the Almighty God, in all His holiness want to dwell among this people? Man was the crowning work of God’s creation. In Eden, God lived and interacted with Adam and Eve freely. When sin built a dividing wall between God and man, God still longed to live and walk with His beloved children.
Who is like Jehovah! He hates sin but loves sinners so much that He wants to live among them! God wants to be near His children that He may give them eternal life and transform their characters. He loves to spread love and joy among them and to bring a taste of Eden in the lives. He just wants you to create space for Him in your life.
God Loves Human Company
God loves human company. He wants to live with us despite our weaknesses. Only by interacting with Him can we experience forgiveness, peace, joy and abundant life on earth. If you fear God because you feel unworthy, stop running. Invite Him to come and live in you and within your community.
Prayer
Dear God, thank You because You love human company. Come and dwell in me and within my community.

Amazing! Our God in His Majesty and Glory seeks to share a personal space with us.
Not only did He wanted to dwell among us, the new testament brings us Jesus and calls Him, Immanuel (which means GOD WITH US.)
Mathew 1:23
