The LORD is my shepherd.
Psalms 23:1 (NKJV)
The year is over. What do you remember about it? The hard times? The good ones? Your failures? Your successes? The people who hurt you? The people who blessed you? Did you see the hand of God in the good, the bad, and the ugly experiences of the last 365 days? Whatever the case, the fact that you are alive is more important.
Let us end the year in a reflective mood by personalizing Psalm 23 and meditating on the Lord’s love, kindness, care, and providence.
In the year that is ending,
The LORD has been my shepherd.
I have not lacked.
He made me lie down in green pastures.
He led me beside the still waters.
He restored my soul.
He led me in the paths of righteousness.
For His name’s sake,
Yea, though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death,
I feared no evil.
For you were with me, God.
Your rod and Your staff comforted me.
You prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anointed my head with oil.
My cup overflowed.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me.
In the New Year and in
All the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Prayer
Heavenly, thank You for the 365 days that are ending today. Thank You because You showered me with blessings from above. Despite the challenges I faced, I am alive. You healed me, forgave me, and satisfied me with the goodies of life. I look forward to another year, believing that You will continue being my Good Shepherd.
