But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
Happy New Year!
Is your list of resolutions ready? If not, you at least have some idea of what you want to accomplish this year. That is commendable because, without goals, you lead an aimless life and will achieve very little, if anything, at the end of the year.
First things first, though. As a child of God, listen to His voice first. He says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33). The context of this verse is Jesus telling His disciples not to worry about food and clothing, for God knows what they need before they pray.
Like last year, you will have to go out and make a living. You will need food, shelter, clothing, school fees, money for charity, and so on. God is a worker. He hates laziness. That is why He blesses the work of our hands. On some occasions, you will go out with tears carrying seeds, but you will return with sheaves of joy in the evening.
There is a secret to success, however. Prioritize God, and you will not have to worry. Make sure all your plans conform to His will. Do not embark on any project or activity if you know it will not please God. In addition, start your day with God. Through prayer, Bible study, and meditating on God’s word, you will know God’s will and receive the power to obey Him.
Life is much easier and more enjoyable when you align yourself with God. This year, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Happy New Year once again.
Prayer
Thank You, God, for another year. By Your grace, I will seek Your kingdom and Your righteousness. I know I will never lack any good things.
